Glencar Waterfall

One of the most atmospheric sites in the north West of Ireland

Glencar Waterfall is in a stunning location on the steep-sided Glencar valley beside atmospheric Lake.  11 kilometres west of Manorhamilton in County Leitrim. At 15m it is easily accessible via a hard path. It is particularly impressive after rain and can be viewed from a lovely wooded walk. There are more waterfalls visible from the road, although none is quite as romantic as this one which is mentioned by WB Yeats in his poem ‘The Stolen Child’.

The Devil’s Chimney nearby is spectacular in the wind when it blows upwards.

The facilities on site include Car Park, Picnic Area, Public Toilets, Playground and Tearoom.
